tick tock , tick tock
time for the weekly update..
was quite a quiet week in fact. watched a movie on Friday, at the new GSC in Queensbay Mall. It was a Friday night, and the look on the cashiers' faces said it all.. business no good! ahha.. should have captured their bored-to-my-bones look on camera but too bad I didn't bring one..
We watched Blood Diamond, which tells of the story of a mercenary/smuggler (Leo Di Caprio) and a fisherman who have different histories and circumstances but their fate becomes joined in a common quest to recover a rare pink diamond, that could transform both their lives. The story is set against the backdrop of the chaos and civil war that enveloped 1990s Sierra Leone, a war which was partly funded by the smuggling of diamonds out of the country. I thought the movie was rather thought provoking, particularly a part where a character says, "I believe, Mr Archer, that all men are inherently good. What do you think Mr Archer?", and Mr Archer(Di Caprio) responds, "I don't think so. I believe men are just.. men". whuuooooo.. cheem rite? hahhhhahaha.. Well I think it is a good movie which tells of trust, friendship and most of all, sacrifice. A 9.5 out of 10. I also thought it was a surprisingly violent movie to be passed by the Censorship Board, although it comes with an 18PL rating. But I do think they cut out a love scene.. hahaa.. never mind that..
Then me and housemate had lunch at a friend's house on Sat. Went to Prangin Mall after that, but we were too full after the lunch to have any mood for shopping. At night, went to the pasar malam and bought some DVDs. Damn.. I don't know what it is with dvd sellers but they can breathe u a lie as matter-of-factly as the newscaster presenting the evening news on tv. We were cheated 3 times and feeling not happy we went to exchange the DVDs (which were unwatchable, or had no subtitles for a Jap anime) 3 times.
Gonna go watch another movie now..
