the farewells
The final OCF before July Camp, was also Serene's last OCF with us.. Had a nice sharing session in our bs group which became a bit *emo* in the end..

On Saturday we went to Oriental Spoon on La Trobe St for dinner with her. The food was Korean, not very full after that but it was very good food. Fitting place for her farewell coz there was her favourite kimchi soup served. hahaha..

Then on Sunday after church we had a 'surprise' farewell for her at Shark Fin's House. It's probably the last time we see her video camera sticking into our faces. The food came very slow, which was annoying.. This is the last of the farewell meals, had like how many.. 3 already. I think it really takes a minute to say hello but forever to say goodbye.. :(

serene at one of the 4 tables..

After the lunch, we had basketball at college square. Which I had not been to much this sem.. Less than 5 times I think. Many new people came to play, which was unexpected, with such cold unforgiving weather...

Had the last gym session with gym buddy that night itself. I'm gonna be very lonely at the gym after this..

farewell
Days are closing in fast, and before long, Serene will be leaving Melbourne for good. Yesterday she invited us over for dinner at her place, for her mum is cooking for us. We each had one bowl of fantastic mee siam and dishes of chicken,fish,mushrooms,prawns,duck.. her mum can really cook!

After filling our stomachs with good food, we all had a good time laughing our stomachs off. The semone recap video she made was sooo funny. We all had fun and enjoyed ourselves, which I think aptly recapped serene's many years in Melbourne.. as a person who brought much joy and laughter into our lives. Amid all the laughter I couldn't help but feel a tinge of sadness knowing that she will leave us soon.. gonna miss my gym buddy dearly..

oops.. wrong take

feels like something falling off?

3 in 2
I actually watched 3 movies in 2 days! Yesterday, I watched Shrek the Third and Pirates Of The Caribbean 3. I went to the city earlier to buy tickets and was just bumming around Melbourne Central. There are sales going on in almost every store. Somehow though, I always develop sore eyes and headache whenever I go shopping, so I can't really shop for prolonged periods. haih..

Shrek was a bit disappointing, I thought. It was funny towards the end, but the storyline lacked the creativity of the previous installments. I fell asleep during the show for a little while. Hahaha.. After Shrek, we went to Dessert House for dinner. Then we went to Safeway for a little while before going back for Pirates of The Caribbean. Pirates 2 ended on a cliffhanger and I was quite eager to see how the ending was like for this one.. well the movie is quite effects laden but done very tastefully, and i particularly liked the score. The storyline was quite good, although some jokes were terribly cringe inducing. Like the part where Will and Ms Swann got married amidst fighting.. eughh.. Overall a very good movie which made up for the disappointment earlier...

I made char kuey teow for dinner today:

yum yumm..

Rainbows in the sky after my last paper

Finally, days of mugging in the library are behind me. I usually have a paper on the final day of the exam period, but this year, I finish a bit earlier which is a welcome change. The last paper was a bit of a struggle, but I'm just glad it's all over. No more core subjects, it's all electives next sem..

I normally would feel euphoric after the last paper but strangely, I just feel a sense of relief now that it's over. Probably because I've got more work to do after this.. like I said.. not exactly a holiday, but will take more breaks than I usually do, I guess.

After the exam, coursemates and I went to watch Ocean's 13. The storyline wasn't that amazing and it had quite a predictable plot. To compensate, it had quite funny scenes. I especially like the scene when Clooney and Pitt was watching Oprah together. Hilarious..

I would like to close my eyes now, and drift away to dreamland, without waking up thinking of where and what should I study today.. :p

foggy
Today's mother of all papers was as expected.. and much more. nenekmoyang of all papers should be more accurate a description. Certainly one of the hardest papers I've come across but somehow I don't feel that stressed about it although I know I didn't do too well. Maybe I've ceased to bother about results, as long as I know that I've put my all into it...

I went to law library after the exams, first time I've been there since, ermm.. 2nd year? I think the doors are quite confusing, especially those at the library entrance. Is it a reflection of how lawyers are like? hmmm.... ok ok .. I admit. I'm just jealous that the engineering faculty doesn't have such an impressive building. You see, compared to the engineering building, the law building has those stop and go touch screen computers around (in case you get lost and need the map, duh.. ), sliding doors, the cleanest toilets in melbourne uni, a coffee bar and an amazing view of university square or the city. I guess engineers are just too practical minded to justify such extravagance :p

Well after few hours of study, we went to ocf. It was very quiet today, coz most have left the country or are still having exams. Some of us went for supper, and then as if it wasn't cold enough, ph treated us to Gelati. There was a thick fog blanketing Melbourne the whole day today, and Lygon looked like a scene from those '50s period dramas. And us having gelati in such seemingly cold weather was quite funny, if not peculiar.

Last paper on monday.. i'm so gonna miss the libraries... wahahah. of course not!!

i should not be blogging, but..

Two down, two to go. Second paper was not a walk in the park like the first one, but I guess I’ll pull through. The third one is the mother of all papers, many people will be having nightmares about this one.. Ahhh.. I hope I don’t begin seeing transfer functions in my dreams.

A lot of ocf friends will be heading home over the winter break, and the exodus is already beginnning, with shake flying back tomorrow. And.. serene will be going back for good at the end of this month =( It will be a quiet winter after all, but I guess I’ll be keeping myself busy with my final year project and some other commitments. In fact, this final winter break of my uni life, won’t exactly be a holiday!

Well, I’ve always ranted on and on about the stress and hectic uni life throughout the semester, and it’s an irony that it is during this exam period that there’s some space to breathe. There’s actually a lot to be thankful for, if only I stop for a moment and count the blessings from God that I sometimes take for granted.. name them one by one..

thunderstorms ahead
I had my first paper on Monday, which went quite well. Not been having such a feeling after a paper for a long long time. Today was chatting with one of my coursemate, and he was complaining that he made a small sign error which he thinks will get penalized quite badly because EVERYONE will be having perfect scores in that paper. oh well.. the lecturer was generous in giving 3 past year questions in an open book exam.. I was sitting at the backmost row and could almost see my coursemates' smiles extending to the back of their heads as they were going through the paper during reading time.

Friday will be the second paper, and it's not gonna be so smooth sailing for this one, I predict. And for the next one and the one after that too. Libraries are still full. But numbers will diminish soon...

emo week of swotting
It feels quite strange doing a routine of 9am-9pm in the library and almost losing a sense of time and day. On the other hand, time seems to pass by so fast this week. Thinking back now, it probably is the final semester I'll be doing something like this with the same group of people (grace, shake, gymbuddy, imaginary friend) coz next semester I'll be having only 2 examinable subjects.

-baby also need to study-

I have to say, it's not good to feel emo when studying for exam. Most of the lunchtime talks have revolved around plans after graduation, how fast time flies,etc..oh well, the dilemma facing final year students.I guess I'm not feeling too stressed about it just yet.. I have to pass my exams first! But when the time comes, I think I'll be damn emo also.. already see it showing in gb and even grace!

In the midst of all the studying, I feel very blessed for the people in OCF that cooked dinner for me - wan ling cooked diced chicken and 'century egg' :p, sheralyn invited us to her apartment for pasta, and ph made nasi lemak lunch boxes for CS people..syokness.

Got more to say actually.. but will leave that to another time..
