swotting
I'm gonna blog just for the sake of it and because someone actually has the gall to complain about my lack of posts (WANDER who that person is huh..)

the assignments last week almost killed everyone.. i went to the lab on sunday afternoon thinking how lonely would that be, but i couldn't find a damn freaking available computer when i reached the lab !! arghh.. had to wait for 15 minutes to get a computer. But i still managed to play basketball and go for Pei Ling's 14th birthday dinner after finishing the stupid assignment..thankfully i started the assignment earlier so it was still manageable.. not really satisfied with the end result though.. hopefully will get a decent mark for it.

The final week of semester always brings mixed emotions.. donno how to express it, isit a positive or a negative feeling, i dunno..

and also, it's the time of the year where the word 'camping' is redefined.
cam-ping [chem-ping] - adjective - to deprive oneself of sleep and bury oneself in books at a library for a prolonged period

most expensive police cruiser
Apparently Italian police are tired of schumacher wannabes on their roads. And the only way to nab them : get a freaking lamborghini gallardo as highway patrol!! Imagine going full throttle in your ferrari and this beast pulls up beside you.

ok. this is cool cool.. (refer previous post)

Lygon St
A great thing about living in Melbourne is the number of free public events we get to see. There are concerts, public speeches, flower exhibitions, etc etc, not something we easily get in Malaysia. Lygon St,where I live, is one of the most prominent streets in Melbourne, famous for Italian cuisine, not that I appreciate it that much anyway.

This morning, Lygon St was turned into a racing circuit for the criterium race in the final stage of the Herald Sun cycling tour of australia.

The amazing thing is, I just passed the street last night on the way home, and it was still empty. Within hours, they manage to put up barricades, set up a giant screen tv, a makeshift stand, tv cameras at all possible angles.....

There's even a super cool police car in tow. the dept of defence surely can't beat this..

And seriously I didn't know what this Lamborghini was doing here lor. Maybe to show the contrast between 600 horse powers and half a horsepower?

The days are longer, the nights are shorter
It's back. This time it's meaner, longer, and with more UV than you could ever ask for! Yes,the heat is here after a relatively warm winter. Apparently Australia is headed for the worst drought in recorded history. Thankfully I'll not be here to experience summer in all its glory. So those that are staying, you could all play your part by bathing less frequently and smelling like sweaty overfed pigs. You know, if you bathe 3 minutes less, you could save up to ..ermm.. ermm...oh forget it. Just bathe less, or bathe in a 'community setting' to conserve more water. Hahahaha!!

Things people do when it's HOT HOT HOT
1. Become moody,disillusioned, grumpy
2. Dress skimpily
3. Bitch about the weather
4. Compare it with Malaysian/Singaporean weather
5. Look for a place with air con to hide. (the puteri lilins)
6. Bathe more (refer above)
7. Gelati! The taukeh must be smiling from ear to ear now.

This week was pretty interesting..I volunteered as an exhibition guide for the annual Mechanical and Mechatronics Engineering final year projects exhibition in Wilson Hall on wednesday. Indeed very inspired to see the projects this year, from robots to gyrostabiliser for passenger trains to mathematical modelling of human gait...all very cool stuff.Hahaha.. now now.. before you label engineers as boring people. Let me quote something I read.. "Engineers are not boring people. We just get excited about boring things".:p Anyways, the final year project puts a little perspective on the rason we slug it day in day out for 4 years in engineering school..Next year will be my turn!!*gasp* should i jump around in excitement or dread the coming days? hmmm...

Next day,I went for the chinese theater group's mousetrap play. The play is in chinese but there are english subtitles. The whole time i kept looking at the subtitles and realized how bad my mandarin actually is. haha... The actors were very good, plot was near perfect. Couldn't complain a lot about it. I'll give it a 9 out of 10..;)

now,back to assignments...

tim tam
Coating biscuits with chocolate must be one of the greatest food idea since potato chips. I most remember such an implementation as Chit Chat cookies sold in Malaysia when I was young (I think they still do sell it). Apparently, chit chat and tim tam are both the same thing, orginating from New Zealand (if you don't already know).

Uni students such as myself will think of tim tam as a heaven sent. tim tam is rumoured to halt clinical depression :p hahaa.. of coz, there are various flavours of tim tam sold in australia; original(duh), double choc, tia maria, latte, caramel etc etc. Personally I prefer original or double choc.. the rest are just too sweet for my liking. Back in Kuching last year,I found some Arnott's tim tam selling for a freaking expensive RM11 (gasp)!! anyway, recently Arnott's introduced a new flavour:

My first thought: that's so gay!!

Nevertheless I bought one(obviously) coz it was on sale. And because I support breast cancer research...

now don't laugh..10cents goes to the cancer foundation for every tim tam sold ;p

Considering the abundance of strawberries here, it's a surprise they took so long to come out with a stawberry flavour. I think it smells very nice compared to other tim tams. the taste is ok, but i still prefer original flavour..hahah..

exams approaching.. tim tam(and junk food) consumption rising.. haha.. if you get too stressed you might want to try this out: nibble oppositely diagonal sides off an original tim tam, then suck coffee/mocha/latte/espresso/other_drinks_that_will_keep_you_awake through the biscuit as if it were a straw. tell me what you think..hahah..

ok..back to study..

a fishing trip
Ok.. time for another post, else I'll be losing my fans..haha..

For the 2nd time in 2 years, I went fishing again! This time though, it's with a different group of people except wan ling and shake who's also been there last year. Thanks to ping han's bs group who invited 4 of us outsiders/aliens/cameraman/extras along =) oh, and i drove! haha.. it was an absolute disaster though.. just look at the scared shitless faces of the girls in my car!!

After almost 2 hrs of driving and some frantic searching around for the pier, we boarded the fishing vessel at 1.15pm. A little while later we were out in the open sea and ready to fish!

It wasn't long before we began catching fish. But it was the same fish all the time lor.. all flatheads.. so boring man!! and the most frustrating is we had to return most of the fishes to the sea because they are too small.

We caught some "interesting" things though, among them baby sharks and starfishes. I think I managed to catch the same baby fish like a million times. Must have been the stupidest fish ever.

We spent a total of 4 hrs on the boat catching fish. I think I enjoyed it more than last year, although we collectively caught considerably less fish than we had last year. We did not count, but I estimated about 20 flatheads.

wan ling: how come so long don't have one ( reeling in to check bait).... Eh! (surprised look) how come got fish one?
jason: hahaha.. the fish so poor ting..stuck there for so long!! LOUSY!!

well, we eventually had to return to shore.. but on the way back, a pleasant surprise greeted us. We saw some dolphins! and it was chasing our boat..just 2 hand lengths away from us. First time I've seen dolphins, and indeed an unforgettable moment...

At last we reached the shore, but I still felt like I was floating around in water.
A group shot of us before leaving the boat..

Thereafter we decided to camwhore around a bit along the cliffs overlooking the bay. The aliens..

Me trying very hard to look cool..

Wah..this shot.. will get me killed if my parents see it. hahaha..

We stopped by at a roadside on the way back.. and managed to watch the sunset. Actually only yanyan and I were watching coz the others were busy camwhoring or eating chips in the car. In under 3 minutes from the point the sun touches the tip of the horizon, it was gone...

After another 2 hours of driving, we reached Melbourne, and headed to shake's place to cook the fish. This is us filleting the fish..

some of us even had enough energy to play mahjong!! haha.. good also, because i learned how to play mahjong. well, at least a beginner lesson..

a very tiring day..nevertheless, I enjoyed myself a lot.. time to buck up however, and get serious about uni.. exams in one month!! arghh...
