a windy sunset

In the midst of the busy weekend, it was great that I had company to watch a sunset at St Kilda Beach. Actually, the reason for going is that yanyan wanted to take sunset pictures with her DSLR and so we were dragged along..Anyway,it was a typical Melbourne day, raining one moment and sunny the next. Thankfully as we arrived on the beach, the weather was perfect, minus the wind.

The wind was so strong that we had to abandon our initial plan of sitting on the beach. Those flags apparently are for the FINA World Swimming Championships currently held this weekend. Sadly, no Malaysian or even Singaporean flag were spotted. At exactly 7:23 pm AEST, the sun started to set. I’m always amazed at how fast the sun seems to get swallowed up by the sea.

The view there is actually spoiled by the presence of buildings and ships going across the Melbourne port. It was not bad nonetheless. The hue of the Australian skies at sunset is just so different from Malaysia. Standing there actually reminded me of the times in Penang where I used to watch the sunrise from the car as we went to work each morning.

After the sun set, we walked around in search of dinner. Walked to and fro along the main street but couldn't find a suitable one, eventually we ended up in La Porchetta. The pastas were not bad but the pizzas were too salty. Maybe that's why I see a lot of Italians have balding head. haha.. Serene tried initiating everyone to talk about their 'weird things' but it was in vain.. hahaha.. then about first impressions.. which was also in vain except for a few exchanges.. I was quite surprised someone had such a generous first impression of me.. I think generally I make a good first impression but I struggle to maintain that, oh well..

Dinner ended and we headed back. One old man came into the tram and it smelled like shit, we were tempted to get down and take the next tram but we didn't. Then someone had an urgent need to shit, so we had to stop at Melbourne Central for her to drop a massive torrent of bombs in the washroom. Life is indeed full of shit eh. But there's the sunrises and sunsets which make it worthwhile while it lasts...
