I have just come back from a week-long trip to KL. Such a whirlwind trip, and I just realized that it was pack full of eating sessions! food galore! It was my first time flying singapore airlines, the service was really good not to mention the food much better than malaysia airlines' food. landing in Singapore's spanking new Terminal 3, I was impressed at the sheer size and cleanliness of it all. Had to walk from one end of the terminal to the other for my connecting flight and to do that within 40 minutes without the travellators would be impossible. But I managed to do that and arrived in KL just in time for dinner at mamak stall nearby my sister's place. Because it was the Hari Raya long weekend, the traffic in KL was uncannily smooth, with most people already back in their kampung for the holiday celebration.
So what do we do in KL? EAT!!!

We went to Jogoya in Starhill Gallery for the late lunch. I was really impressed with the service. First of all the waitress brought us on a tour of the place before we even had to make a decision to dine there. The food was excellent, so many choices and all high quality food. There's even abalone and unlimited oysters to choose from! too bad we don't eat that much oysters. Also went to Madam Kwan's for nasi lemak which was quite nice for a restaurant hawker style dish. Went to dragon-I for wedding day lunch and also din tai fung for another lunch.. hahaa. it was xiao long bao madness.

Wedding day was a beautiful day. We woke up at 5am to do some final preparations and I realise just how stressful a wedding can be. Feel so happy for my sister and at the same time a bittersweet moment for my parents as they will see less of her like not on the 1st day of CNY and stuff...

A bit sad for my sister as she always wanted a church wedding however the husband is not a Christian so she had to settle for a traditional Chinese tea ceremony. My sister look splendid in her wedding dress, can't wait to see how the pictures from the wedding photographers turn out.

Most of the relatives from our side of the family had come all the way from Kuching and some even as far as Australia, Singapore and Japan for the wedding. Needless to say there were lots of catching up. It was also the first time in a long long while that all five of us were together because younger brother has different holidays in Japan and has missed CNY for about 3 years already. Considering our side of the family only took up 2-3 tables at the dinner we were severely outnumbered by the groom's relatives who are mostly from KL. It still hasn't sunk in yet that my sister's married.. That there will be changes to our family structure, that things will not be the same anymore (not necessarily worse). Oh well, people do move on after all.

The day after the wedding we did some shopping at Midvalley. Bought and ate some mooncakes! wanted to bring some back but then the ingredients label had "egg yolk" written on it eventhough the mooncake I bought had no eggyolks. stupid. Brother left for Japan later that day and the next day mum and dad also left for Kuching. Felt as if I had just came back for a day but did so many things.
I flew out to Singapore later that day and had to spend a night in Singapore airport waiting for my connecting flight to melbourne. Thought I could sleep but ended up sleeping for 15 minutes on one of the many couches there. Did some exploring of the cavernous terminal 3 instead.

The architecture is really amazing. I love the ceiling panels here.

It would take almost one hour to walk the entire Terminal 3.

There's a koi pond with big fat kois in there.

There's also a butterfly garden. They breed butterflies in there. It was my first time seeing a cocoon.

Nice water features.

This weekend is also the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix, so there's some promotions going on at the airport.

Some kaya toast and coffee for breakfast at the airport. It's a shopper's paradise too, this airport. You can find almost anything here from luxury brands to convenience stores. I even watched a movie at the mini cinema inside the terminal. You can probably tell I'm super impressed with Singapore Airport. hahaha..
Now, back to Melbourne, back to normal life.. I want another holiday! Oh well going to Brisbane in 2 days time..will play a bit in the Gold Coast and then training for the rest of the week.. hopefully that will cure my homesickness... ah!!
