Time for my monthly update. The year is passing by so fast it's scary.
So what's been happening? I finally went to an AFL game a few weeks ago. And I quite enjoyed it. One thing I realize, it's such a family friendly game. Like people bring their kids to the games, and opposing teams' fans sit together (imagine doing that with soccer crowds!). But one tradition as my colleague puts it is to give "shit" to the umpires. With the number of kids around, the profanities you can hear during a match is just shocking. Anyway, the MCG was filled with 65000 spectators, not full but still quite packed. The match was absolutely a thriller. It came down to the dying seconds for the winning point to be scored and the crowd went spectacularly crazy during those final minutes. Seriously, I've not been to a live sporting event which was contested so closely before. The atmosphere is just something very special that you can't experience sitting on the couch in front of the tv.
Apart from that, work has been interesting lately, with a new project underway. Hoping that I can get to go to NZ for this project in Auckland come December. The only other business trips I've been to this year was the two trips to Brisbane. I need more business trips dude!! I've also worked my first night shift a few weekends ago. It was really good getting to see our work actually being put into service, a feeling hard to describe. Basically what we did during the night shift was to walk around the railway tracks, observe the signals and electrically shunt out the tracks while the testers at the control centre yell out instructions. It was freaking cold but!
Thinking now about getting a new prime lens for my camera. hahaha. 35mm 1.8. hopefully that will reignite my interest in my camera. It's been feeling neglected lately...
